We often have men stopping by Bwana Johns with their wives, girlfriends or daughters, wondering if we have anything for men.
The good news is, yes we do.
The comfortable fit of many of our pants, shorts and shirts can be worn by both women and men.
Many of the styles been well tested by the Bwana himself.
Check out these Hawaiian shirts. they come in rayon or cotton. Perfect over jeans or shorts for the summer or while on holiday.

Or how about a tee shirt or tank top. Lots to choose from, from our Sure line, through to ones featuring favourite musicians or actors.

Top it off with a hat and you are set to go. We have Panama hats-light and comfortable for the summer, or try one of several styles of wool felt hats, either an Indiana Jones style or a fedora.

As it cools down cosy up in a Sure hoodie or a Baja jacket.

Rugs and Bedspreads-fashion for your room.

Summers ending and it is back to school or back to the city for a lot of you.
If you are looking forward to decorating a dorm or apartment or the house, Bwana Johns has lots of ideas.
Our Rag Rugs are a great way to brighten up a room. Made of recycled fabrics they come in a great mix of colours, sizes and weights. Made of recycled saris some of them even have sequins and sparkle woven into them for that bit of extra bling.

A rug makes all kinds of sense on a floor. Cover up that boring or stained carpet. Add an extra layer of coziness next to the bed for your feet to find on those chilly mornings, or as a welcome mat at the front door.

But there is more that you can do with these rag rugs.
Take a light weight over dye rug and throw it on the couch for a splash of colour, or use it as a table cloth.

Or hang one on the wall as a piece of art. After all each rug is unique in itself.

How about using a rag rug as a yoga mat.

Combine a rag rug with one of our bedspreads. The bedspreads also come in a variety of colours and sizes.

They of course look great on a bed, but why not use them for a table cloth, or on a couch.

Or how about curtains.

So there is no need to have a bland, boring room. Brighten it up, and have some fun with some rag rugs and bedspreads.

Love those Leggings

If you haven't discovered the joy of leggings you are in for a treat.
There is nothing that can beat the comfort of slipping on a pair of leggings. It'll transform that dress in the back of the closet that you were thinking was getting a little short.
Throw a tee shirt over them, and you have the casualness of jeans without the restriction.
Use them as layers in this change of seasons-short leggings under a short skirt and tee or how about long leggings under a long skirt with boots.

Sarah has layered a kimono cardigan over a Sure tank dress and leggings to guard against the morning chill

Theresa finds leggings perfect for yoga

No need to stay with basic black. How about turquoise, white, grey or brown. A perfect combination with a long sleeve flare dress, and maybe a long slub scarf flung over the shoulder.

A Sure short sleeve dress is the perfect topping for crop leggings.

Perfect for those chilly days-long leggings, boots and a fringe hoodie.

Amazing Summer

We've had a great summer here in the Highlands. OK there were times when it could have been warmer, and it was slow to take off in July. But today it is sunny and hot, and it seems like summer may never end.
We were a little nervous about how it would go for us at Bwana Johns. We sold the building that our store was in, last fall, so instead of the four stores we had last summer, we have only two this year.
But after a little thinking outside the box, we decided to create our own market place in the parking lot of our "World Headquarters".
The day before Canada weekend we got the sign up. A small garden under it to brighten things up, and the tents erected.
It seems that we had enough colour and interesting stuff outside, that it was impossible for anyone to drive past with out stopping to see what was happenin'.
So in the end we had a great summer here.

A few times it got a little exciting when a storm blew in, and the tent and tables threatened to blow onto the neighbours, but mostly we survived.
In only a few more weeks summer is officially over, and the kids are back at school. Holy smoke, how did the summer go by so quick!

I have seen a lot of you out on the streets wearing Bwana Johns garb. I would have liked to have photographed you all and featured you on this site. But I was late coming to the idea of this blog site, so I missed some of you. I'm still hoping to capture a few shots yet, and post them here in the future.
